The receiving side uses a standard Astra satellite receiver with a modified
LNB which has had the local oscillator puck changed to 9ghz. This will
give a direct read out on the satellite receiver display but 1ghz out
(i.e. 10.380ghz will show as 11.380ghz). Alternatively an enhanced LNB with a
9.75ghz local oscillator and a Global ADX down shifter (used to give coverage
of Astra1D 10.7 to 10.950ghz on a standard 10ghz LO LNB). The ADX moves all
frequencies up by 0.5ghz therefore the lowest receivable frequency will
be 10.7 minus 0.5 = 10.200ghz giving coverage of the higher end of the amateur
TV band. Some LNB's may not have good sensitivity lower than the
frequencies it was designed for so some comparison tests may be necessary.
However modified and fully tested LNB's are available from Bob Plats.
